Walking Tour 10:30am (approximately 4hrs. Local guide, pastel de nata tasting plus one wine and tapa)
Details: Meeting an expert local guide in central Lisbon for a guided walking tour. After a brief introduction, learn how this 19th-century historical square was built with typical Portuguese stones to resemble waves of the nearby ocean. From here, follow your guide to Restauradores Square and see an obelisk rise towards the sky, exemplifying Portugal’s ascent to independence from Spain in 1640. Nearby, visit the Rossio Central Station, and listen as a train heads into the tunnel towards Sintra. Hear how this 19th-century engineering marvel was built and stands as one of Portugal’s most impressive accomplishments. Next, head to historic Carmo Square, home of the 1974 Carnation Revolution. Here, learn how Portugal’s previous dictatorial regime collapsed after a 48-year rule. Stroll onward to reach the charming Chiado neighborhood full of boutiques, theaters, bookstores, and vintage cafés. Keep walking to and admire the heart of the city: Baixa – Downtown, that was completely rebuilt after the earthquake of the 18th century, obeying new rules of urbanism and anti-systemic architecture, based on extremely innovative solutions for its time Hoff at Alfama, an old quarter, known for its Moorish heritage and the establishment of Fado. Learn about Portugal’s melancholic music as you walk by Fado restaurants tucked in between alleys and winding streets. Snap some beautiful photos and then walk to your last stop, the majestic Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio). Hear how the reception hall was used to welcome travelers arriving from the Atlantic, before your tour concludes and you continue exploring on your own.

Sintra Tour details: Meeting local guide in central Lisbon for a memorable small-group guided day trip to Sintra and Cascais. Hop aboard your air-conditioned minivan and travel to Sintra. First, stop at Pena Park and see the diversity of plants and trees line the beautiful trails. Then, voyage to a spectacular vantage point of the colorful Pena National Palace (Palacio da Pena). Continue to Pena National Palace, the most famous of Sintra’s monuments, located at the top of Sintra Mountain. Enjoy this 19th-century Romanticist castle that looks and feels like a fairy tale. Admire its eclectic Neo-Manueline, Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance styles as you head inside. Observe the extravagant bedrooms that used to serve as a summer residence for the royal family. Depart the palace and stroll through sintra , free time to have lunch or discover the town’s forested palaces like Sintra National Palace, a medieval royal palace occupied from the 15th to 19th centuries (own expense). Check out the local fare with tastes of aqueijada or travesseiro, two scrumptious and traditional pastries. Meet back at your guide and travel past Quinta da Regaleira and the Palace of Monserrate on the way to Roca Cape (Cabo da Roca). Then, whip out your camera for great photos at the rocky bluffs which are Europe’s westernmost point. Along the journey back to central Lisbon, where your tour concludes, enjoy pristine views of the scenic town of Estoril.

Do a short visit to Saint Maria church, one of the most beautiful churches of south area, where you can see the most incredible work of tiles hand making. This is the most remarkable church of Barroque period in Portugal.
